No, it is not what you think so don’t worry. I have become totally addicted to running. I mean I LOVE it! I never was a runner, even when I played Soccer I hated it. Well, thanks to Nike and Apple (of course) I have become a (soon-to-be) lean, mean, running machine. I really want everyone I know to own one of these so we can all “run together.” If you have not heard about it let me tell ya.
It keeps track of your time, distance, pace, calories and even tracks all of your averages over time. The first mile I ran I had a congrats message from Lance Armstrong play through the headphones of my beloved iPod Nano. You really need to go to the site and see how it works.
Right now I have a program that is getting me ready for a 5k which I might test myself on June 21 at the Dadfest 5k run. I really want to get the girls involved in a healthy, active lifestyle early on, so this might be great fun for the 3 of us. Check it out below.
Here are some of my screen shots:
So this was my run today. Lola kicked back in the jogging stroller while Daddy took her for a 2 mile walk/run. You can see the time and the pace of the run. Unfortunately, I have been having borderline shin splints so I have to break it up more than I would like with walking, but that is okay.
This was a goal I set for myself. My goal, as you can see, is to run 20 miles in 4 weeks. Right now I am 3 miles ahead!
These are fun. This is a challenge I joined with other people from all over the world to run 50 miles in the month of June. This will be my “stretch” goal, but I am going to work hard to get there. You can also leave messages on the board to say hi or talk trash.
And this is the motivation. As if my boy Lance or some British lady giving me the auditory pat on the back wasn’t enough. Here you collect medals and trophies for hitting goals, reaching milestones, and completing challenges. My times are not super fast as you can see, but I will get there.
I really have to say that this all started due to a blood test I had to take for life insurance. My cholesterol and tryglicerides came back with high numbers so I had to make a change. Now, the test was skewed since you are not supposed to eat 12 hours before and I had dinner and then 3 breakfast tacos from Chiloso that morning, but I needed to do it anyway. I do miss those breakfast tacos pretty bad though.
Anyway, if you run you have to get one. If you have one let me know so we can set something up on the site. If you don’t run or have one, get some running shoes and a Nike+ today!
Bye for now – gotta run!

Keith,
I learned what you and Bret were up to last Wednesday at men’s bible study and I went out that night (with bret) and ran myself a mile. Since then I’ve ran 4 more miles in 6 days. I ran a little further today. So is that web site only for you nike ipod runners or can I manually put my numbers in?
Lets meet somewhere in the middle one night and run together.
Ryan
Yep. It is just for the Nike+. You can’t do any manual stuff on the site. It is worth every penny!
Looks Fabulous! Being the Kinesiologist that I am I love that technology is starting to help motivate people to get out and/or get physical.
Way to GO Keith!
that is, as they say, “Freaking sweet!”
